Help us end hunger in communities across North America. Many people in our communities are struggling through hardship and unable to provide food to their families. Food for Families ensures that as few as possible go to bed hungry each night.

Did you know?

• 49 million Americans struggle to put food on the table.

• 1 in 6 children in the U.S. does not know where they will get their next meal.

• Summer is a peak season for children to go hungry – a time when many do not have access to the good nutrition provided by school meal programs.

Food banks become one of the main sources for food during these times.

Knights of Columbus are committed to helping end hunger through the Food for Families Program which has donated millions of dollars and millions of pounds of food toward this cause. Council and parish families will raise funds to support their local food pantries, food banks and soup kitchens. For every $500 or 1,000 pounds of food donated, the Supreme Council will refund $100 back to the council. Though in-kind donation of food is valuable, leaders of hunger-relief organizations often comment that financial contributions can be stretched even further and allow nonprofits to procure the exact items needed by the organization and its clients.

Our 2026 Food For Families program will go to support:

  • Saint Edmond Community Center-Food Pantry

  • Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (South Phila.) Food Pantry

  • Stella Maris Food Pantry

Background

The Knights of Columbus launched the Food for Families program to encourage members and their communities to work together to ensure that no one goes hungry. Since the program launched in 2012, councils have donated millions of dollars and millions of pounds of food to local parish food pantries, soup kitchens and food banks throughout the United States and Canada.

Food for Families

High unemployment rates and rising food prices have left many in our communities unable to provide nutritious meals for their families. Too many children are going to bed hungry or getting ill. The Food for Families program is one way that the Knights of Columbus and our communities are working together to end hunger.

It all starts at home. Something as simple as going through your own pantry for non-perishable food items or picking up a few things at your local grocery store will make a difference. Contact us to find out more about needs in your area and how you can help through food donations and/or financial contributions.

This drive provides vital support for many families in our South Philadelphia community. Thank you for your generosity!
