Supreme Knight | Patrick E. Kelly on SAFE Training for K OF C
I want to thank you for visiting this safe environment portal as part of your responsibilities as a key leader in the Knights of Columbus.
Ensuring a safe environment for the children, young people and other vulnerable persons we serve is a crucial obligation for Knights of Columbus leaders. Upholding the Order’s high standards of protection can establish you as a positive role model to members, their families and others. Likewise, neglect — even that which is unintentional — can undermine our mission. Only those members who have shown a clear commitment to living out the highest Christian ethical and moral standards and personal integrity in their day-to-day personal lives and work may be considered for selection as key leaders.
To help ensure that we select only the best key leaders for our programs — and to prepare them for their positions — the Supreme Council operates the Knights of Columbus Safe Environment Program. This program consists of child abuse awareness and prevention training as well as a required background check for members in key roles. Also included is training on a robust reporting procedure in case of possible misconduct.
The training offered through this portal must be completed within 30 days of your appointment to a key leadership role.
Thank you again for helping us to ensure the safety and well-being of our members, their families and all those we serve.
Fraternally,
Patrick E. Kelly
Supreme Knight
