The Cause For The Canonisation Of Blessed Michael J. McGivney

The Cause for Canonization for our organization’s beloved founder, Father Michael J. McGivney, was opened in the Archdiocese of Hartford in 1997, when he was given the title Servant of God. On March 15, 2008, his heroic virtue was recognized by Pope Benedict XVI, and Father McGivney was given the title Venerable Servant of God. On May 26, 2020, Pope Francis approved a decree recognizing a miracle attributed to the intercession of Father McGivney and opening the way for his beatification.

The San Salvador Council works toward greater awareness of the life of Father McGivney, and strive to live out the legacy of faith and service he passed down to us.

Father McGivney painting and banner has been donated by the council for permanent display at Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in South Philadelphia, where they are also utilized in the annual Italian Market Festival procession of the Saints, as well as his annual Feast Day mass in August.
